Behind The Scenes Blogging Tag

I love a chance to get to know my fellow bloggers better and have been thinking about how to offer some insights into my own blogging journey. When I saw the lovely frenchiemummy post, I put myself forward and was tagged into the ‘Behind the Scenes Blogging Tag’.  This is a great tag to be able to share some of those little known facts about ourselves.

So here goes, a little soul bearing from me…..Mainy x

Where do you blog?

I do the majority of my writing sat on my sofa in the conservatory if I get any time during the day, or in my lovely comfy cosy bed once the kids are asleep.

Where do you find inspiration for your blog posts?

Alot of my posts have come from my experiences throughout a normal day and have just poured from me at the time. The best example of this was ode to him which was written on scrap of paper from my bag while being scared stiff on a plane.

How long does it take you to write your blog posts?

It depends if it’s a post like the one mentioned above or it’s a research based post such a my seahorse one which took a couple of weeks. It’s the editing which gets me. I tend to overthink it once it’s finished and I am working on myself to lighten up a bit and press ‘publish’ a bit easier!

Do you plan your blog posts? How?

I plan the structure of my posts as much as possible and I try to post once a week. More than that is normally just too much for me to co-ordinate and still remain able to see to everything else.

What kind of camera do you use?  What editing programme?

I only use the camera on my iphone. I haven’t got a specific photo editing programme…maybe I should!

Do you use a notebook to track your ideas?

When I first started I did but now I put thoughts straight down in a draft post page through my phone as I’ve usually got that with me. Sometimes they sit in the draft section for a while but it’s lovely to have the seeds of posts there waiting for the right time to develop them a bit more.

How do you take your pictures?

Point, shoot and take about 3 times as many photos of a single thing that I actually need. I’m like most normal mums, I have a million pictures of my kids and a few selfies on my phone.

What’s your favourite type of blog post to write?

The ones I don’t have to think about too much because the words are spilling out of me. I never thought that I would be able to say that or that it even happened to people. It’s a pretty good feeling.

Who knows about your blog?

I love this question because the more I immerse myself in the blogging world, the more I realise that there are alot of people like me who don’t publicise the fact they have a blog with people in some areas of their life. I have told my immediate family and close friends but have kept it back from all areas of my work and business. I see blogging as a relaxation part of me, the last thing I would want to see within my space is anything that takes me into work mode.

Are you an organised or messy blogger?

When I post a piece, then at that moment I’m organised and focused. I know how, when or if I want to publicise it……then I see the twitter messages of all the great linkies that I love and I go into scatty mode – reacting to all the great opportunities out there to have people see what I’ve written. It’s crazy, fun and exhilarating…I love it!

Biggest blogging pet peeve?

I can honestly say that at the moment I don’t have one. I have only been blogging a relatively short time – since feb 2016 – and as I’m learning so much and virtually meeting so many great people, the shine hasn’t worn off and things which may annoy me in a years time haven’t presented themselves as yet:)

I hope you’ve enjoyed the little insight, it was great to share.

If you would like to be part of this tag then please just tag in. If you would like to tweet me or comment and I’ll tag you in then that works too, whatever suits you, it’s an open tag.

  1. I love these tags you get to know some really cool things about people, and think about things you wouldn’t ordinarily think of. Its really simple but I don’t have a blogging notepad…I have loads of random things written on my phone or post it notes…I think I need to plan more..I just waffle and barely edit! My son inspires me the most with the odd things he says…#KCACOLS

    1. Oh yes, kids have a way on inspiring many blog posts 🙂 thanks for your comment X

  2. I do most of my blogging in bed too. I loved reading this and think I possibly like you a little bit more now. I so want to take part in this #kcacols

  3. I really like this tag – it’s so interesting! Great to hear more about how you blog. I also spend far too long on the editing of posts before I am prepared to publish! #KCACOLS

  4. I enjoy reading such posts the give a little insight on the blogger. I’m also fairly new to blogging I started 3 months ago and I feel a bit conscious to publicise my blog, only immediate family and friends know about my blog because I like to think of my blog as my little piece of the blogosphere and my mini escape. I also haven’t invested in a camera yet and use my iPhone camera or my husband’s Samsung phone camera. #KCACOLS

  5. Great to learn more about bloggers and especially their blogging traits. I got a FiloFax for my birthday and it’s my blog life lately! #KCACOLS

    1. You’re right, there is an app – once it’s installed it’s nice and straightforward to jot down drafts. Notepad and pen is just as good:) X

  6. Thank you for sharing with us what goes on behind the scenes of your blog. I find it interesting to hear how people juggle it all.#KCACOLS

  7. This is a great series I really enjoy reading them and finding out more about bloggers. I too like to blog from my bed! Xx #KCACOLS

  8. It’s always lovely to get to know others better and find out more about blog styles. Im.like you in that I find it hard to do more than a post a week and keep up with everything else. #KCACOLS

  9. I love reading about other bloggers writing process . I think one post a week is a good target too, sometimes I try for two but life usually overtakes ! #kcacols

  10. I love reading these sorts of posts, maybe because I’m so nosey! I really need to think about doing something like this. #KCACOLS

  11. I’m always amazed how many great blogs are still relatively new – gives me hope for mine now I’m three months in. I totally agree about not sharing my blog with those I work with – some things jsut need to be kept separate. #KCACOLS

  12. This was a great read, really interesting to see how other bloggers do things and I guess we are all a bit similar in many ways. I love the posts that just flow. Really great idea for a tag. #KCACOLS

  13. This was really interesting! Made me actually think about my ‘process’ more, I tweeted yesterday about needing some sort od schedule to be more organised and this just confirms it ha ha! I only usually manage one post a week as well – I’ve got a few drafts written it’s getting them finished with the help of ‘the boys’! Thanks for sharing!

    #KCACOLS

  14. Love this post! The questions are great because it got me thinking about some things I may have to work on on my own blog. I just bought myself a planner…. but haven’t used it much. (I’m a geek when it comes to school supplies, journals, notebooks, etc.). I think it was just an excuse to purchase one! lol. I also do not have a special camera or anything, just use my phone. I really would like to invest in a really nice one, but still trying to decide which one is the best for me and at the right price!

    1. Hi Ashley and thanks for your comments, I love that you enjoy your journals and stuff. So many people use their phones for their pictures on their blogs, I’m surprised it’s so many.

  15. Ah lovely tag! Great to know more about bloggers behind the scenes! I like you keep my blog quiet from some aspects of life – it’s hard trying to keep it semi-private… Friends keep stumbling on it in google etc, freaks me out! Xx #KCACOLS

  16. I really like reading about how other bloggers blog and plan or don’t plan their posts. My posts tend to take me a while to write and I often have the idea for them a few days before I write them. I then tend to mull them over in my head before I get my laptop out and get typing. I always write my posts at my dining room table. I don’t think I’d ever sleep if I got into the habit of writing in bed. Thanks for your post. Pen x #KCACOLS

  17. Only my husband knows that I’ve started blogging. I thought it was just me who was a bit reluctant to tell other family and friends about it, but it’s nice to know I’m not alone! For me, I think I’m more likely to be open and honest when I’m writing if I’m not worrying whether someone I know might read it and take offence, or see me differently because of what I’ve said. Being (partially) anonymous makes me feel a bit freer to write about whatever I want. (Saying that though, I still try not to swear in the blog in case my Mum ever happens to find out about it!!) #KCACOLS

    1. lol, I know, I sometimes hover over using certain words then have a battle in my head that it’s my blog and I can do what I want…I usually end up giving in and being too tame..I need to change that!:)

  18. I love this tag as you really get to know how other people write which interests me. I’ve told everyone about my blog but have had some negative comments from family about it. I my mind, like you, i find it relaxing and wouldn’t give it up for anything! #KCACOLS.

  19. Lovely answers and great getting to know you a bit more! I think we started blogging at a similar time and I have very similar opinions to yours – I can’t think of any ‘peeves’ and I also don’t have any special photography equipment or strategy 🙂 Also, I haven’t really told anyone at work about the blog – it’s funny that; as you say it’s quite nice to keep it to close friends and family. #KCACOLS

    1. Hi Polly, thanks for the lovely comments:) yeah its wonderful that its grown out of a little idea and I’m loving it. You’ve done so well with your blog, it was one of the first that I read when I started even reading online blogs, well done you x

  20. I’m so nosey, it’s always interesting to read about how other people organise their blogging! It took me ages to let any of my friends or family know about my blog. And it only came about when I eventually set up a facebook page and the word spread. But it’s been lovely to hear their comments about it, and they’ve been so supportive. #KCACOLS

    1. Thats great that you’ve had good feedback from your friends and family, makes it so much better x

  21. I love this post! What a great idea. Thank you for sharing your blogging habits. Many of my answers would be similar! Thank you for guest hosting. x #KCACOLS

  22. That is exactly how I take my photos as well. Point shoot retake x 50. Lol My daughter has been taking some of my blog photos as you can see in my latest one, it is nice when she gets a creative streak going. Thanks for sharing the behind the scenes.

    1. Hi Jen:) Thats nice that your daughter is involved, it’s good to get the children to be part of it. For me, it helps them to understand a bit better if I am on the computer in the evenings. Thanks for commenting, Mainy

  23. I always find it interesting to find our who bloggers have told about their blog. I felt like I wanted to keep it secret to start with but now everyone knows about it, although it sometimes makes me cringe the thought of some people reading certain posts x #KCACOLS

  24. Point, click and hope for the best is definitely my photography style! I’m very much a sofa in the lounge blogger so far but one day maybe I’ll have a nice blogging space too!! #KCACOLS

    1. Brilliant, here’s me tagging you into it now, look forward to seeing it:) if you link me in then I will rt your post:)

  25. Such a great idea this – nice one @frenchiemummy! It’s lovely to put a few more details to the name! #KCACOLS

  26. I’m not big on editing photos either. I just take about 20 of whatever it is and pick the best one. Always interesting to hear about how others go about these things #KCACOLS

  27. It took me a few weeks to tell my immediate family and friends about my blog (other than my husband). Its my thing…. something I do for me! Thanks for sharing #KCACOLS

  28. I love hearing about how other people blog and it’s great to find out more about you! I’m similar to you in that I mostly use photos from my phone and jot down notes for blogs on my phone too. #KCACOLS x

    1. Hi Cheryl, It makes it so easy to blog that way for me. The apps and the phones are so good for those quick little ideas to go into. Thanks for taking the time to comment x

  29. Wow! I love this idea… You get to know what other blogger’s routine. Same with you, I also try to post once a week, to me that’s manageable and can still enjoy time with my family. #KCACOLS

  30. Thanks for sharing, it’s really good to hear how other people manage their blogging. I’m glad I’m not the only one who just puts ideas into draft mode. It is reassuring seeing them sitting there. I also sometimes have posts all written which I’m not sure whether or not I should publish! #KCACOLS

    1. Yep I can relate to that too, I’ve got at least one of those that I can think of. Its pretty random!:) x

    1. It works out nicely with everything else. I think I’d just be pushing it when I dont need to if I did any more:)

  31. I love this post! So interesting to hear about the way in which others blog. I am like you in that I tend to over-edit my posts, I read back through it that many times and then wonder should I re-phrase things or even delete them, when really I should just press that publish button and be more sure of myself! #KCACOLS

    1. Yeah I guess we all find our groove but I know what you mean. Are you sure I can’t tempt you into being tagged in???

  32. It’s always interesting to know how other bloggers roll. I don’t tell everyone about my blog either. I’m more comfortable with the thought that people I don’t know personally are reading it.

    #KCACOLS

  33. I love reading these posts. I’m also a once a week blogger, no idea how people manage more than that! You sound very organised, I’m still using a notebook (but I do love my pretty stationery!). #KCACOLS

  34. hehe I bet after hosting KCACOLS your biggest pet peeve will be people not making it easy to share their posts on twitter! I was super surprised how many id click and the post wouldn’t link to that person. I had to go check my own then too! #KCACOLS

    1. You are so right!! Everyone should link their twitter name to their sharing buttons! Does mine???lol x

  35. Lover reading this and finding out how other bloggers operate. I often wonder many of the same questions. Now that I’ve gone back to work, the structure and organisation of my blog has definitely changed. I would love to take part in this tag, I’m even thinking about a header image for my post. Ha. Claire X #KCACOLS

    1. Brilliant! I’ve tweeted you the challenge:) It will be great to see your post, go for it, Mainy x

  36. This is such a great post I found it so fascinating. I love knowing more about the way people blog. I am a messy blogger, I never know what I’m going to post I am so disorganised. I agree the best post are the ones that just flow! #KCACOLS

    1. Thankyou, thats lovely:) I can’t imagine you being disorganised though, your posts are always beautifully written.

  37. It’s nice to know that someone else doesn’t have a fancy camera or photography skills! I do the same- take loads of shots and hope one will be good!! Xx #KCACOLS

  38. Good to know a bit more about you and your blogging Mainy. Blogging from bed sounds so relaxed, wish i could do that..the second I get in bed I’m asleep! I have only told a few family members/friends ds about my blog too, still feels weird sharing it with everyone I know!xx #KCACOLS

  39. Being a nosey so and so I love reading these posts.

I wish I was like you and took the time to edit. I don’t know how many times I’ve hit publish and then noticed spelling, grammar and general errors.

So jealous you have a conservatory and the peace to blog there.

    #KCACOLS

    1. Oh my goodness, I still find mistakes and have to go back over things after I’ve posted, I’m rubbish at spelling even with all the spell checks around:) The conservatory is something new to me and my favourite place to be. The peace often comes like now, it’s 00.45, I’ve one son asleep next to me and one son sleeping in the garden in a tent and I’m going to sleep here incase I’m needed!:)

  40. I always love reading these types of posts and learning more about the person behind the blog. I only use my iphone for taking photos as well, I have a few apps that I used to edit my photos but thats it.x #KCACOLS

  41. Lovely insight into your blogging life. I love those posts that just pour out too-the super fast typing to get it all down quick enough. I don’t tell everyone I have a blog either. I get more of a buzz knowing that people I don’t know personally are reading it! Thanks for co hosting the #KCACOLS linky this week. 🙂

    1. Thank you for your lovely comments about the post and hosting. I enjoyed your post too:)

    1. You’re right, I think it’s not straight forward…we all have our reasons for who we tell about our blogs:)

  42. Its always nice to hear how other people view and organise their blogging and their blogging habits. Surprising also how many bloggers keep it as their ‘thing’. I also have only told a very few close friends and family, and that took a while to do too.
    Amanda. #kcacols

  43. I am so happy you had a go at this challenge! Great to know more about your blogging habit. I reckon we some points in common. I am dreaming of writing sat on a sofa in the conservatory. It must be so inspiring looking outside. Sorry, I always wanted to have a conservatory! It looks so English!!!
